This benefit concert features the wonderful flute music of Bill Neal, an acomplished Native American flute player. In support of Walking Shield, we are collecting donations of school supplies and new unwrapped gifs. Of especial need are backpacks, jackets and gifts for older teens. Monitary donations are welcome to help offset the the costs of transportation. These items will be distributed to needy American Indian families, mainly on the reservations of the northern plains. Items which can not be shipped up there, or excess (not likely) will be distributed through local United Way charities on an as needed basis. Please come out and help those who need it.
** Used items NOT accepted. **
It is a cultural tradition that American Indians give the best that they are able. They would rather buy a new blanket to give away to a needy family than give them an old blanket. Your used items are welcome at many local charities, and will do great good in our community.
